JaQuee Parx Live @ Surfside Hideaway

December 3rd, 2021

I met one of JaQuee's good friends, Zeak Jacks, while out clubbing with my sisters. We chatted and started talking about music. Once Zeak found out that I was a live music blogger, he sang JaQuee's praises. He dropped her card, links to listen to her music online, and named some of the venues she performs in, ensuring I could find her. Everyone should have an amazingly loyal friend like Zeak.

At first, I thought Zeak might have been a little biased, but after Going to JaQuee's Soundcloud account and listening to a few of her recordings, actually, all of them, I found that he was not biased at all. Her voice was stunning! I messaged Zeak and told him that I would be happy to write a blog for her.

I first heard JaQuee sing live at Frank's Jazz Club a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately, I didn't get there until about halftime, but she sounded just as good or even better than the recorded music. After she finished her set, we talked a little bit, and I told her why I was there, who got me there, and my intentions to blog.

A British girl, JaQuee Parx, comes from a family of talented musicians and has had a passion for music all her life, using music to express feelings that she otherwise had problems communicating but lacked the confidence to share with others. After encouragement from friends and family, she decided to perform in real-life. In her own words, "14 years ago, I joined an app called SingSnap and started with a crappy mic on my laptop, lol." It was in SingSnap that JaQuee met her partner, Hick Dreamscape.

JaQuee joined Second Life thirteen and a half years ago but has only been live singing here for about a year, motivated by a desire to share her music and the Covid lockdown. A friend in the industry helped her to set up the equipment, and she was soon able to perform her debut show.

Today, I am on my way to hear JaQuee at Surfside Hideaway, an outdoor venue founded in 2009 by Desirae Beaumont, Kantbe Thursday, and Pixie Plasma, located in Crystal Falls. Desirae and her staff were friendly and greeted everyone on arrival. I had the chance to talk to Desirae one-on-one. While I will not disclose the topic of conversation, I will say that I was very amused. Desirae is hilarious.

Thank you, Desirae and team, for your hard work and commitment to live music in Second Life.

JaQuee went on stage about 3 pm SLT following Emely Mo, another talented live singer. The afternoon was all about love songs, starting with "Say Something" by Christina Aguilera. One of my new favorites, a song I have never heard, "So Sally Can Wait" by Oasis; "Hit The Road Jack" by Ray Charles; "Losing you" by Brenda Lee; "When I Dream" by Crystal Gayle; "What's Up" by 4 Non-Blondes; "Wicked" by Chris Isaak. Then she continued with my request "She Needed Me" by Anne Murray; "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish; "Creep" by Radiohead; and "Wasted" by Angus & Julia. Finishing the set with "Sweet Nothings" by Brenda Lee.

Soft-spoken, JaQuee sings with an

exquisite, smoky voice that radiates with confidence and grace. Engaging her audience the minute she steps onto the stage with her infectious laughter and charm as she addresses the crowd.

Thank you so much for finding the courage to bless us with your exceptional talent, JaQuee.

JaQuee's favorite musical quote:

"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent"

-Victor Hugo
